DUI Clinical Evaluations and Treatments
Clinical Evaluations
Effective July 1, 2008, all DUI offenders are required to get a clinical evaluation as a condition of license reinstatement unless waived by a court order. Attorneys, Probation Officers, and Court Officials may also request Clinical Evaluations. Clinical evaluations are designed to diagnose each individual’s substance abuse or dependence and if needed to refer the individual to suitable treatment. The NEEDS assessment is the first step in the assessment process and is intended to help the individual recognize his relationship with drugs and/or alcohol and the impact that his use makes on his life. The clinical interview is a one on one consultation designed to assemble specific information about the client and interpret the results of their needs assessment. If necessary, the clinical evaluator may utilize supplementary assessment tools to assist in the development of a clinical treatment recommendation. For license reinstatement, clinical evaluations must be performed by certified professionals who work in the domain of addiction. Typically, the DUI School/Risk Reduction program should be completed prior to the clinical evaluation. Exceptions can be made to accommodate attorney requests and court orders.

Treatment
Jones DUI/ Risk Reduction and Driver Education School will soon offer ASAM LEVEL 1 Short Term (6 to 12 weeks) and Long Term (4 months or longer) treatment designed to meet individual needs for substance treatment. As mandated by the DBHDD, the program will consist of a weekly three hour session that utilizes the Prime Solutions Curriculum. Topics in Prime Solutions are divided into three libraries of sessions: Deciding My Path, Tools for Change, and Taking Flight. Affordable DUI Treatment Solutions will offer these sessions at a reasonable rate. Weekly payment plans will be available from $60.00 per week ($20 per hour). All treatment will meet the requirements of the DBHDD/DHR and DDS for license reinstatement.
